Ribbon Wreath

Fall Wreaths – My Current DIY Project 10

So as I mentioned on a earlier post, Fall Bucket List, I am a little “décor challenged” when the seasons change.  I often forget to put out the proper seasonal decorations that I have on hand; at least until about midway through the proper season.  But this year, I have vowed to do better!  So I set a goal to make a few new decorations for this year.  An easy project was to make fall wreaths for the front porch.  I got the idea from a friend at work that makes these great wreaths from mesh, burlap, etc.

At the top of the post, you can see my attempt at a ribbon wreath; I used a wire wreath frame and 3 types of wide ribbon I found at the local craft/fabric store, and some florist wire to attach the ribbon to the wire ring.  I also bought a plaid bow for decoration.  It’s a good think, too, because I ran out of ribbon about 2/3 of the way around the wreath on my second pass.  So the lower part of the wreath is a little skimpier on ribbon than the top part.  Oh well – I still kinda like the way it turned out.  🙂

Fall wreaths - Burlap Wreath

Fall wreaths – Burlap Wreath

This is my attempt at another type of fall wreaths – a burlap wreath.

I know, it looks very bare at the moment, but I have some orange and black ribbons that I am going to use to spruce it up at bit.  I think this will be a good wreath to keep up all year ’round – I can switch out the decorations, ribbon, etc. to match the seasons!  Decorating challenge – mastered!  How quick and easy will it be to just put a different ribbon or accent on this wreath, depending upon the holiday.  🙂

So I feel pretty good about my efforts this past week, in terms of adding a few new decorations around the house.  Guess I can check that off my Fall Bucket List.  Fall wreaths – check!  🙂

Welcome to Brag About It! I think your wire ribbon wreath is adorable! I also find that the season is 1/2 over before I even think about putting decorations up. Funny thing is – I make them – I just don’t put them up. Luckily for me, my daughter loves to decorate for Christmas, so she comes over and decorates my whole house! Now . . if I could only get her to do that for all the other holidays . . .

Thanks for stopping by and commenting Laurie! I know what you mean about having the decorations, but not remembering to put them out. My daughter is much better at decorating for the holidays than I am, too. She is very organized about that sort of thing, and takes charge of that when she comes to visit before Christmas. 🙂
