Update on Job Training – Completed!

Update on my new job at Oregon State Hospital

Update on my new job at Oregon State Hospital

So I realized that I hadn’t checked in or written a blog post for over a month now.  Time flies when you’re going through new job training!  🙂

I have now completed my New Employee Training (NEO) and my department training ( 2 weeks in the Security Department) and have worked my first shift as a regular ( i.e. not in training) employee.  And it was a 13 hour and 20 minute shift!  But I survived, so that’s a good sign.  And with this schedule I get 4 days off – that’s something to excited about, I guess.  And my daughter has been dealing quite well with the differing schedules for NEO and training.

Oh, and I referred to my new place of employment as the “state mental hospital” in a previous post.

I must now amend that to be “state psychiatric facility.”

I guess that’s the politically correct term; and Lord knows, we must be sensitive and politically correct at all costs, now mustn’t we?  😉

I am not sure how much I will be talking about my job, my co-workers, etc.  I want to err on the side of caution when speaking about my job, the hospital, etc.  With all the hoopla over HIPPA, I want to make sure that I don’t cross the line in any way, shape or form.  But I will try to share what I can, and hope that it’s interesting to someone other than myself.

The job is good, my co-workers are friendly, and I have a regular paycheck again.  Life is good!  Well, it’s been pretty good all along, but now it’s EXTRA GOOD!  🙂
